Effective Self-Motivation

Aspiring for success in life requires self motivation. You should be able to lift your own spirits whenever a discouraging situation arises. That's the only way to overcome difficulties. The following are some helpful tips on effective self motivation.

You should have a cause. This is the root of any good motivation. This should encourage you to give the best that you can even in times of trouble. A cause that is valuable to you can provide a never ending inspiration. Whenever you feel that your motivation is running low, you can always go back to your cause to get a refill.
You should have a dream. Your cause may be a rich supply of motivation but it is still vague. The cause should be made concrete by forming a dream from it.

Acquiring a dream is essential because it is easier to be motivated if you have something tangible to aim for. It shouldn't just be any other dream. Your dream should inspire you so it should be big. It should be challenging but within the bounds of reality. It should exhaust your ability beyond your comfort zone.

It is not enough to desire something. You should develop the hunger. You see, a desire won't get you through times of hardship. Hunger makes you want something so bad that you will do anything to satisfy it. If you have a cause you are passionate about and a dream that you can picture, the hunger is the force that drives you.
Do not compare yourself with others and just mind your own business. Focus yourself on your own performance. There is no point comparing yourself with another. The only one you have to compete with is your self.

Never say surrender. When obstacles are encountered along the way, do not quit. Never think that it is impossible to continue. This is the difference between winners and losers. Hence, they say, a winner never quits.

Never look back. In counseling, this is always a no-no. Dwelling on the past will only drag you down. Take that load off your back and leave it behind. There is no need to carry that burden. You might have made mistakes in the past but their memory should only serve as a lesson that you can learn from. It's all water under the bridge. No use crying over spilled milk, as they say. The past can never be brought back again unless you have a time machine.

Maintaining Your Self-Motivation To Achieve Your Goal

Are you slowly feeling tired and bored when you are at work? Do you discover yourself lack the self-motivation to be proactive? If you are, you are not in the right job. If you got given an choice to change to something you sttink doing, can you change immediately? I bet you would without a time thought. But who is check you based on making the choice? Is it your family, your boss or you? Give some thoughts to overly question and you could quickly receive out that it is you who is thwart yourself from the change

Many people have this dream to be their own boss and what this mean is that they want to have the freedom; the freedom to do what they love most and at the same time not putting their livelihood at stake. Yes, you can start a small business, you can be a real estate agent and answer to your own sale performance or you can be a home business owner. No matter what your dream is, you can have the freedom if you are daring enough to change.

So, you are feeling happy and excited about your new business now because you have your freedom and you are aiming to make it big, or so you think. Starting a business can be easy, but to make it successful and sustaining it is a different story. Just spend some time to take a look at the biographies of some of the successful people, and you will notice that it takes a lot of enthusiasm, hard work, commitment and last but not least, high level of self-motivation to take you there.

Having freedom equals to managing yourself. Nobody will tell you what to do and nobody will put the stress on you to complete your work. Besides having self-discipline, you would need to sustain that high level of self-motivation to see you through your business path.

How to sustain a high level of self-motivation?

1. Set crystal clear goals
How are you going to sustain your level of motivation if you don’t even know where your business is heading to? It is important to set your goals clearly so that you can plan your actions to be taken in order to achieve those goals. Just as important to set your long term goals, you will need to set your short term goals regularly. Why? Most of the short term goals are “ingredients” to your long term goals; every short term goal achieved is another step nearer to your long term goal. As such, you will have a much clearer picture of your progression towards your dream. Doesn’t that give you the motivation to strive further?

2. Constantly Visualize Your Dream
“Imagination is more important than knowledge.” – Albert Einstein

After setting crystal clear goals, the next step is to constantly visualize our dreams. Imagination is great; try to visualize how your business is going to be like, how much you lifestyle is going to improve, how elegant your new car will be or how magnificent your house is going to be. Anything is possible. When you constantly visualize how your future is going to be like, you will want to do it and naturally, your level of self-motivation increase.

Steps to Enhancing Self Motivation

Being motivated can help a person to succeed in many different areas of their life such as their work, their home life, their relationships with others and it can even help a person to increase their wellbeing. In other words motivation can do a lot of positive things for an individual which can really benefit them and their lives.

One of the problems however that the majority of people have with being motivated is that becoming motivated can be very hard. It can be made even more difficult if a person is having a rough time in their life and feels as though nothing is going right for them. Anyone who wants to become self motivated should take note of the following steps to achieve this.

Step one – have self belief. When you believe in yourself you will find that it is much easier to become motivated. Often self belief can feel strange to anyone not used to thinking positively about anything, let alone themselves. To combat this start small and make a list of positive things about yourself. For example if you are a good listener put this on your list. As you think of more things keep adding them to your list and you will soon see the positive things about yourself and develop self belief over time.

Step two – decide what you would like to be motivated about. Having clear and well defined goals will help to increase motivation, after all it is very hard to motivated about nothing. So think what you would like to be motivated about. So would you like to achieve a new qualification or maybe improve a relationship within your family.

Step three – decide how you will start on your path to motivation. This is actually a whole lot easier than it sounds. Say you would like to gain a qualification think about what you would need to do to achieve this. Firstly, you would need to decide on the qualification then find out where you can gain this.

Step four – start on your road to self motivation by taking the first steps towards your goal. As you do this your motivation will grow and it will start to become second nature to you. In no time at all you will find that you are motivated and can easily motivate yourself to achieve whatever you wish.

Step five – start living your life as a person who finds it easy to become motivated. When this happens you will find that you have a new sense of freedom and start to think more positively.

Some people use self help books in addition to these steps to help them to be more motivated and this can also be useful. So if you are looking to enhance your self motivation and start getting things done in your life, follow the steps mentioned above. In no time you will find that you have a more positive outlook on life and you are achieving more than you ever thought possible.

The way of Increase Motivation

Motivation is an important factor that plays a very important role in enhancing efficiency and boosting productivity. Motivation drives people to perform their best in all the activities carried out by them. Lack of motivation hampers productivity and damages growth prospects. Managers and leaders are required to increase employee and team morale. They may use various means or incentives to increase motivation. This differs from person to person and from situation to situation.

Attending personal development workshops can increase personal motivation. Seminars, training programs or vocational courses can help people boost their personal levels of motivation. People are also advised to read or listen to inspirational material. This plays an important role in increasing their personal level of motivation. Another significant way by which people can increase their personal motivation is by associating with positive people.

In order to achieve organizational goals and objectives, managers and team leaders are required to increase the morale of their employees and subordinates. They are advised to constantly stay in touch with their employees and improve modes of communication in order to facilitate adequate feedbacks. Appropriate allocation of authority and designation of responsibility also helps in increasing motivation level among employees. It is commonly seen that financial incentives and perquisites offered also prove to be the most effective motivational tools in the hands of employers. Recognizing talent and giving due praise when required also helps in boosting employee motivation.

A number of theories have been compiled keeping in mind human psychology. "Maslow's hierarchy of needs" and "McGregor's Theory X and Theory Y" are the most famous theories that have been developed. These theories have immensely helped in understanding human behavior. They have analyzed human wants, which has made it easier to develop new and improved means of motivating employees and individuals.
Analyzing human behavior and accordingly satisfying wants can help to increase the level of motivation in a person.

Motivation: Stay Inspired

Well, I can’t tell you how it happened exactly. My recovery truly was a miracle. But what I can tell you is how important it was for me to stay focused and inspired throughout my recovery.

People tell me my story has inspired them. Let me tell you how to find this inspiration within your own lives.

(1) Believe anything is possible. To overcome obstacles, you have to see your way through to the other side. You have to visualize yourself overcoming them. Draw inspiration from that vision.

(2) Stay focused. Obstacles are not a one-time event in life. When you try to get out of a difficult situation, no doubt you’ll encounter one obstacle after another along the way. Expect it, and discipline yourself to stay focused. Never lose sight of your goals.

(3) Resist the urge to sleep five minutes longer. Who hasn’t hit the snooze button several times in a row, only to realize those extra few minutes of sleep don’t really help? Resist the urge to sleep longer than you need. Life is short enough. Think about what you can do to improve your life if you add a few minutes to each day. Get out of bed, face your obstacles and move closer to your goals with every waking moment.

(4) Don’t stop just because someone tells you to stop. I can’t tell you how many times people told me not to get out of my wheelchair, not to take so many steps, not to balance on one foot, not to try running without a leg brace. But I knew I had to do those things or I’d be in that wheelchair the rest of my life. Your life might be filled with obstacles and your progress toward your goals might be slow. Don’t worry about that. Just realize that by moving ahead when others urge caution, you’ll reach your goals faster than you would have otherwise.

(5) If you’re going to worry about something, worry about improving. People love to worry. Sometimes worrying seems like our favorite pastime. The next time you worry about something, ask yourself what all that worrying is really accomplishing. Then ask yourself how many positive things you could accomplish in the amount of time you spend worrying. When you focus on positive ways to overcome your difficulties, you move closer to a life free from worry. If you’re going to worry about anything, worry about doing more of that!

(6) Believe you can control your situation. Though problems seem to arise despite our attempts to keep them away, we still control our own lives. You might not believe that. If you don’t, it’s because you’ve trapped yourself in your situation and can’t see your way out. You always have the ability to move yourself forward. You just need to believe in your ability and take positive steps to control your situation. It’s not a lack of control that keeps you from moving forward. It’s your inability to see that power within you.

(7) Know that once you give up mentally, you’re beat. If you think you can accomplish something, you will. If you think you won’t accomplish something, you won’t. When I was wheelchair-bound, I suffered a lot of pain and frustration, a lot of wishing that things had been different. But not once did I believe I wouldn’t walk again. Not once! I truly believe God helped me get out of that wheelchair precisely because I never doubted I would walk again. Don’t lose your hope, not even for a minute. You have nothing better to do in this life than to try to overcome your obstacles and reach your goals.

(8) Remember you have one life. Regardless of your beliefs about afterlife and other types of spiritual existence, you’re here right now, in this life, and you only have one shot at it. Why not make the most of it? Don’t waste this life dwelling on problems and hurdles and what-ifs and what-could-have-beens. Make the most of this life and the situation you’re in. Spend your time making improvements wherever you can. What could be better than that?

Whenever I speak to an audience or give a radio interview, people tell me they thought their lives were tough until they heard about my situation. That’s not the point. It doesn’t matter if you think my situation is worse than yours, or vice versa. What matters is that I believed I would walk again, and now I can walk. Whatever difficulties you have, believe that you can get through them and you will.

Find inspiration, hold onto it and stay inspired. What could be more important than that?

6 Tips of Motivate your self

If you excel in life, self-motivation is essential. You need to know how to motivate. You should be able to keep your spirit high, no matter how discouraging a situation. This is the only way to power, we must overcome the difficulties. Those detained in difficult times, are certain to lose even before the fight more.

Self Motivation: How to Motivate YourselfThe question is: how do you motivate yourself? Here are several tips I’ve found to be effective to build self motivation:

1. Have a cause
I can’t think of a more powerful source of motivation than a cause you care about. Such cause can inspire you to give your best even in the face of difficulties. It can make you do the seemingly impossible things.

While other causes could inspire you temporarily, a cause that matters to you can inspire you indefinitely. It’s a spring of motivation that will never dry. Whenever you think that you run out of motivation,  you can always come to your cause to get a fresh dose of motivation.

2. Have a dream. A big dream.
Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.
Karen Ravn
Your cause is a powerful source of motivation but it’s still abstract in nature. You need to make it concrete in the form of a dream. Imagine how the world will be in the future. Imagine how people will live and work. Having a dream is important because it’s difficult to be motivated if you don’t have anything to shoot for. Just think about people who play basketball. Will they be motivated to play if there is no basket to aim at? I don’t think so. They need a goal. You need a goal. That’s what your dream is for.

But just having a dream is insufficient. Your dream must be big enough to inspire you. It must be realistic but challenging. It must stretch your ability beyond your comfort zone.

3. Be hungry
Wanting something is not enough. You must hunger for it. Your motivation must be absolutely compelling in order to overcome the obstacles that will invariably come your way.
Les Brown
To be truly motivated, you need to have hunger and not just desire. Having mere desire won’t take you through difficult times since you don’t want things badly enough. In many cases, hunger makes the difference between the best performers and the mediocre ones.

How can you have hunger? Your cause and your dream play a big role here. If you have a cause you care about and a big dream related to it, you should have the hunger inside of you. If you think that you are losing hunger, all you need to do is to connect again to your cause and dream. Let them inspire you and bring the hunger back.

4. Run your own race
I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to dance better than myself.
Mikhail Baryshnikov
Comparing yourself with others is an effective way to demotivate yourself. Even if you start with enthusiasm, you will soon lose your energy when you compare yourself with others.

Don’t let that happen to you. You have your own race so how other people perform is irrelevant. Comparing yourself with others is like comparing the performance of a swimmer with a runner using the same time standard. They are different so how can you compare one with the other?

The only competitor you have is yourself. The only one you need to beat is you. Have you become the best you can be?

5. Take one more step
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
Winston Churchill
When you meet obstacles along the way, there could be the tendency to quit. You may think that it’s too difficult to move on. You may think that your dream is impossible to achieve. But this is where you can see the difference between winners and losers. Though both of them face the same difficulties, there is one thing that makes the winners different: the courage to continue.

In difficult situations, just focus on taking one more step forward. Don’t think about how to complete the race. Don’t think about how many more obstacles are waiting for you. Just focus on taking the next step.

6. Let go of the past
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Believe it or not, one of the best demotivators is your past. Your past can drag you down before you realize it. Your past can give you a heavy burden on your shoulders.

The good news is it’s a burden you don’t have to carry. Take it off your shoulder and leave it. You might make mistakes in the past. You might disappoint others with what you did. But it’s over. It’s already in the past and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Today is a new day and you have the chance to start again. No matter how bad your past might be, you still have a bright future ahead waiting for you. Just don’t let the burden of the past stop you.

Apply these tips and motivate yourself. Don’t settle for mediocrity. Let your self motivation take you to excellence.
